How did you get into the coffee industry and become a barista?
It was an accident. I was looking for a part time job for vacation and joined a chain coffee shop. I met a person there who was very passionate about coffee and she infected me with this passion.
What is the most unusual ingredient you’ve used in a coffee drink? Why did you choose it?
There was a lot of weird stuff, for example smoked salmon or blue cheese.
What are you thinking about right before you go on stage at a competition?
Most of the time it is: "what the hell am I doing here?!"
What is your best coffee experience?
I hope it is ahead of me.
What is your favorite brew method at home and why?
I don't brew coffee at home very often, but when I do it I use clever dripper. It give great results in flavor and you can still prepare breakfast at the same time.
What is one piece of knowledge you would share with a non-barista coffee drinker?
Good coffee doesn't need sugar.
Outside of coffee, what do you do for fun?
I go running or do some other sport like squash.
